 Simple & Effective Self-Care Practices

Simple and effective self-care practices can help support your physical and mental health. We encourage you to:

  • Rest and relax. Periodically focus on taking slow deep breaths to help activate a relaxation response. It’s also important to take regular breaks when you are able.
  • Exercise. Physical activity like brisk walking, mixed with periods of relaxation can alleviate physical and emotional stress.
  • Express your feelings to people who are supportive of you: family, friends, colleagues, clergy, your personal physician or mental health provider.
  • Support others who may need to express their feelings to you. Not only will this help them but being of service may help you feel better as well.

 California Highway Patrol

Buckling up is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself and your passengers in a crash. It is extremely important to make sure all children riding in your car be properly secured before every trip.

Thousands of children are injured or killed every year because their child passenger safety seats are not installed properly. Remember, most collisions occur within a mile of the home - so buckle your child in a safety seat for every trip, no matter how short.

If you're not confident of how to properly secure your child in a safety seat, contact your local CHP Area Office, and ask to speak with a child passenger safety technician. Locate a local Area Office anywhere in California.

Additionally, watch child safety seat videos on the CHP website.

California is comprised of culturally diverse people of all ages. Yet, we all have this in common: We all use roads and highways throughout the state to go places, conduct business, engage in commerce, or simply enjoy California's beauty. Help us do it safely! The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is actively working to reduce collision and fatality rates in California. Below are the programs designed to help promote safety and communication between California's diverse residents and the CHP.

NALEO Educational Fund is the nation’s leading 501(c) (3) non-profit, non-partisan organization that facilitates full Latino participation in the American political process, from citizenship to public service.

Responding to the 2020 Census is easy, safe and important, and it is key to shaping the future of our communities. It has never been easier to respond to the Census from home; whether online, over the phone or by mail.

  • Online: Respond online in English or in 12 additional languages at My2020census.gov
  • Phone: Respond by calling 1-844-330-2020 for English or 1-844-468-2020 for Spanish
  • Mail: Respond by mail if you received the paper form.

During this time households can continue to self-respond until August 14th.

Why is the Census important?

  • Census data are important to our democracy – these data determine apportionment of seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and how district lines are drawn at all levels of government.
  • Census data also guide the allocation of billions of dollars in federal funding to programs that are crucial to the well-being of families and communities, such as education, health care, road construction, transportation and many more.
  • We only get one chance every ten years at achieving a full count – these data will inform important policy decisions and determine federal funding allocations for a decade

NALEO’s toll-free bilingual census hotline 877-EL-CENSO (1-877-352-3676) provides members of the Latino community with critical information on the upcoming 2020 Census.
