Community Event Recap | Beach Clean-Up - 5/27/22

On May 27, 2022, as part of the LAFC Volunteer Corps program presented by Chick-Fil-A, LAFC teamed up with Heal The Bay and World Surf League to clean up the beach in Venice.

In honor of World Oceans Day, the club organized a beach clean-up at Venice Beach. With the help of Heal The Bay, World Surf League, and over 30 additional volunteers, several pounds of plastic and other trash were removed from the beach. The clean-up coincided with the launch of the 2022 Primeblue jersey – an annual MLS initiative that produces jerseys made from plastics intercepted from beaches and coastal communities in an effort to prevent ocean pollution.

Community Event Recap | Dreams of Gold Financial Literacy Program - 5/26/22

On May 26, 2022, students from LAFC’s Dreams of Gold financial literacy program gathered at Banc of California Stadium to pitch their business ideas in front of a jury.

After an intensive 8-week in-classroom financial literacy program run by LAFC and partner NFTE, students from ICEF View Park Prep High School were given the opportunity to pitch their business ideas in front of a jury at Banc of California Stadium. The jury consisted of LAFC senior leadership as well as local Los Angeles business owners.

Community Event Recap | Book Drive Presented By University Of Phoenix - 5/31/22

On May 31, 2022, LAFC partnered with University of Phoenix to donate reading books for students at Menlo Avenue Elementary School in Los Angeles.

Over 450 students, K-5th grade were provided brand new Scholastic books to read over the summer. Each student was able to select two books of their choice, specific to their learning level, and with the option of English or Spanish. In total, over 900 books were donated.

On April 22, 2022, LAFC launched the Volunteer Corps presented by Chick-Fil-A. Partnering with Hashtag Lunchbag, the Club, along with 50 volunteers, worked together to prepare sandwiches for displaced members of the Los Angeles community

In honor of LAFC Day, LAFC partnered with Hashtag Lunchbag to make sandwiches for unhoused residents of Los Angeles. The event, which served as a continuation of the club’s efforts to provide food assistance to those in need, helped feed 1,500 people affected by homelessness.

On April 16, 2022, LAFC partnered with L.A. Works and the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy to restore the habitat for wildlife at Abalone Cove in Rancho Palos Verdes.

In honor of MLS’ Week of Service and a continuation of the club’s efforts to create a cleaner, healthier environment in Los Angeles, LAFC teamed up with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy to remove invasive species at Abalone Cove Reserve.

Community Event Recap | Hygiene Kit Assembly - 3/26/22

On March 26, 2022, LAFC partnered with Melissa’s Produce to provide 500 hygiene kits for homeless women in Los Angeles.

In observance of Women’s History Month, LAFC, in partnership with Melissa’s Produce, hosted a hygiene kit assembly. The event provided hygiene kits for East LA Women’s Center to distribute to women in need. With the help of several volunteers, 500 homeless women in Los Angeles received essential items such as shampoo, toothpaste, tampons, pads, socks, deodorant, and more. Club partner Melissa’s Produce also donated 500 packs of Melissa’s Clean Snax.

Community Event Recap | Book Giveaway - 2/28/22

On February 28, 2022, LAFC partnered with the University of Phoenix to donate over 1,200 reading books to 54th Street Elementary School in Los Angeles.

Approximately 300 students, K-5th grade, received four new high-quality books, specific to their learning level, along with LAFC promo items at a book giveaway in the 54th Street Elementary School auditorium. In celebration of Black History Month, all books were written by Black authors, aiding in the support of diverse stories and writers. Additionally, Club partner University of Phoenix provided each student with a copy of their self-published book, The Dragon Who Learned to Fly.

On February 21, 2022, LAFC partnered with L.A. Works to build privacy fencing at Payne Academy in Inglewood, serving over 600 students and their families.

As a part of Black History Month, LAFC and L.A. Works partnered in hosting a school beautification project at Payne Academy in Inglewood. With the help of several volunteers, privacy fencing was created by weaving fabric through chain link fences, providing separation from neighborhood homes. Beautifying these spaces will help provide a colorful, welcoming, and safe environment for the students and families at the school.
