2018 (Los Angeles Football Club): 

  • Started 26 of 26 appearances, scoring four goals and adding two assists (total of 2,321 minutes played). 

  • Scored two goals in the 2-0 win vs. the San Jose Earthquakes on September 22.   

  • Scored a goal in two consecutive matches in the 3-0 win vs. the Colorado Rapids on October 7 and 4-2 win vs. the Houston Dynamo on October 13. 

  • Started in the Club’s first ever playoff game, a 3-2 loss to Real Salt Lake on November 1. 

2017 (FC Dallas):  

  • Appeared in 22 matches, starting 18.  

  • Suffered knee injury in May after starting 10 of FC Dallas’ first 12 league matches.  

  • Returned on July 4 vs. DC United.  

  • Tallied one goal and one assist.  

2016 (FC Dallas):  

  • Started 30 matches. 

  • Started three Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup matches. 

  • Started one CONCACAF Champions League match. 

  • Finished the season with four goals, three of them game winning (May 11 against Portland, July 4 against Orland City SC and Oct. 1 against LA Galaxy).  

  • FCD won all four matches he scored in and finished the season 15-7-8 in matches he started.  

  • Recorded 2,700 minutes played, a season high for the club.  

  • Started both MLS Cup playoff matches against Seattle.  

2015 (FC Dallas):  

  • Appeared in 20 matches, starting 10, for a total of 1,084 minutes played.  

  • Appeared in two matches in the MLS Cup playoffs, starting one, for a total of 126 minutes played.   

2014 (FC Dallas):  

  • Appeared in 10 matches, starting nine, for a total of 770 minutes played.  

  • Appeared in two matches, starting one, for a total of 95 minutes played in the MLS Cup playoffs.   

2013 (FC Dallas):  

  • Selected by FC Dallas in the first round (seventh overall), of the 2013 MLS SuperDraft on Jan. 17. 

  • Made seven appearances for the first team, tallying two goals.  

  • Made MLS debut on May 11 vs. DC United as a 90th minute sub.  

  • Earned first MLS start on May 25 vs. San Jose, helping Dallas to a 1-0 win over the Earthquakes.  

  • Scored first MLS goal as a second-half substitute on June 22 vs. Sporting Kansas City. 



  • Captained U.S. Under-18 National Team at the 2011 Milk Cup.  

  • Named U.S. U-18 Team MVP at Tel Aviv, Israel Tournament.  

  • Capped by the senior U.S. Men’s National Team in a 1-0 win against Jamaica in a friendly played at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn. on Feb. 3, 2017.  

  • Was called to the 2018 January senior U.S. Men’s National Team Camp, becoming the first player in LAFC history to do so. 

  • Has six caps and two goals with the senior team, with scores coming in the USMNT’s 3-0 win over Bolivia on May 29, 2018 and a 3 – 0 win against Panama on January 28, 2019.

2012 (Sophomore):  

  • Started all 17 matches. Ranked second on the team in scoring with six goals and three assists. 

  • Named All-Southern Conference First-Team. 

2011 (Freshman):  

  • Scored five goals and added two assists.  

  • First-team All-Southern Conference 

  • Southern Conference Freshman of the Year.  



  • Brother Dawson was a punter at Clemson University.  

  • Father, David Zimmerman, was a Baptist minister for 21 years in Fort Worth, Texas and currently serves as a mentor with Church Resource Ministries.  

  • Mother’s name is Becky Zimmerman.  

  • Has two siblings (Dawson and Carter).  

  • Married wife Sally, in December 2016. 

  •  Favorite superhero character is The Joker, specifically Heath Ledger's performance in "The Dark Knight."
