Always Together Jersey
Introducing our 2020 “Always Together” jersey available for order now on the LAFC mobile app. The jersey honors our essential workers battling this global pandemic – with each jersey purchase, LAFC will donate a portion of the proceeds to our Black & Gold Relief Fund.
During these unprecedented times, we would like to encourage our community to continue to be a force for good. We have provided a list of both online and in-person volunteer opportunities as a way to accommodate the needs of all fans through a variety of initiatives.
Mentor a veteran looking to transition into civilian careers.
Digital Volunteers sign up to monitor, engage, and report in four-hour shifts. While this work is done remotely, our Digital Volunteers report directly to the National Headquarters Social Engagement team in coordination with their local chapter communicators.
Sew emotional support blankets.
Contribute your skills and passions to help people with print disabilities read. From scanning and proofreading, to describing images, to providing support for Bookshare® teachers and families.
Volunteers answer questions on Career Village's online discussion forum from students who want to be you when they grow up. Volunteers are notified of potential questions based on their skills/expertise. Their answers can be up/down voted by fellow volunteers and viewed by other students with similar career questions and interests.
As a Card Angel, you will send your assigned patient at least one card, letter, or note a week, and perhaps a small gift every now and then, but gifts are not required for Card Angels. Being a Card Angel is a great option for volunteers with limited budgets.
Crisis Text Line is the free, 24/7 text line for people in crisis in the United States. The service is powered by volunteer Crisis Counselors who work remotely — anywhere with a computer and secure internet connection works.
Registered volunteers may contribute to Distributed Proofreaders in several ways including proofreading, "smooth reading" pre-released e-books to check for errors, managing projects, providing content, or even helping develop improvements to the site. Volunteers may also join other members of our community in our forums to discuss these and many other topics.
Mock Interview volunteers conduct mock phone interviews asking typical interview questions, as if you were conducting a real interview, and then provide honest and friendly feedback about what they did well and opportunities for improvement. Career counseling volunteers speak with veterans and military spouses about specific needs or interests related to their job search. The conversation could include topics such as networking strategies, knowledge sharing specific to an industry or position, or general career planning.
Volunteers help produce audiobooks for students with learning disabilities and blind/visually impaired. Opportunities include Narrators, Listeners, and Quality Assurance volunteers.
Volunteers serve as online mentors to entrepreneurs. Mentors create a profile on their online platform and search entrepreneur profiles to find a match and connect online.
Sew masks at home for essential workers and seniors.
Volunteers can serve as a College Coach or a Career Coach. College Coaches provide mentorship to help our students navigate the college application process. Career Coaches will work virtually with your student to help them navigate the complex – and often intimidating – process of landing an internship or job.
The Ask an Expert Program is a free online forum where students and parents can ask questions about K-12 science projects. Volunteers work together to provide personalized assistance to students who have questions about any phase of their project, from coming up with an idea to analyzing data to displaying results at a science fair.
Provide pro bono support when an organization needs it most by connecting virtually or in person on Taproot's online matchmaking platform. Help with projects like: social media strategy, employee handbook development, business plan creation, financial analysis, technology assessments, and more.
Adopt virtual office hours to help students navigating the college admissions process.
TrevorChat/TrevorText volunteers are trained to answer chat messages or texts online from young people who are struggling with issues such as coming out, LGBTQ identity, depression, and suicide. Volunteers need access to a computer in a private location with a strong internet connection, and should be comfortable with instant messaging and with using the internet.
Translator volunteers connect through TWB's Kató online platform. TWB Kató connects non-profit organizations worldwide with a community of language professionals who work together to ensure that critical health, crisis response, and human rights information is available in local languages. The diverse Kató community has currently more than 26,000 members, offering professional language services in over 250 language pairs.
