LAFC2 fell 3-1 to the Real Monarchs in MLS NEXT Pro action on Friday night at Titan Stadium in Fullerton, CA.
The Monarchs struck early, with Marcos Zambrano-Delgado finding the back of the net in the opening minute to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. They extended their lead in the 79th minute through a goal from Ruben Mesalles.
LAFC2 responded just three minutes later, as Marius Aiyenero scored in the 82nd minute to cut the deficit in half. Despite a late push from LAFC2, the Monarchs sealed the three points with a goal from Jesús Barea in stoppage time.
The Black & Gold drops to 9W-14L-3D (32 points) on the season, and next takes on St. Louis City SC 2 at Energizer Park in St. Louis, Missouri, on Sunday, September 28. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. PT and the match can be streamed on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
