LAFC2 extended its winning streak to three games with a 3-2 victory over Ventura County FC on Saturday night at USC’s Rawlinson Stadium.

Ventura County, the MLS NEXT Pro affiliate of LA Galaxy, opened the scoring in the 20th minute through Vicente Garcia, but the Black & Gold answered with three second-half goals from Sebastian Nava and Érick Díaz before holding off a late push from the visitors.

After VCFC took their early lead, LAFC2 found its response following the intermission, when Nava equalized in the 53rd minute off an assist from Matt Evans, then struck again two minutes later to put the Black & Gold in front, 2-1. Díaz added what would prove to be the matchwinner in the 73rd minute, finishing from the center of the box off a setup from Gavin Zambrano.

Ventura County pulled one back deep in stoppage time through Issak Luna, but LAFC2 saw out the result to secure its third straight win and its fourth straight win at home. Ethan Scally made four saves in goal for LAFC2, including a key stop in the 66th minute. Ventura County held a slight edge in shots, 14-12, but LAFC2 was more efficient in front of goal, putting seven shots on target, with three finding the back of the net.

LAFC2 returns to action on Sunday, May 24, when the club hosts St Louis CITY2 at USC’s Rawlinson Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m., and the match will be available on
