LAFC2 closed out its 2026 regular season on Sunday with a 3-2 loss to MNUFC2 at National Sports Center Stadium in Blaine, Minnesota. The Black & Gold, which had already secured a place in the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs, finished the regular season sixth in the Western Conference with 45 points and an 11W-8L-9D record.
Ernesto Rodriguez gave LAFC2 an early lead in the 15th minute, finishing from the center of the box off an assist from Sebastian Nava. MNUFC2 answered four minutes later through Hector Cruz before DJ Taylor put the hosts ahead 2-1 with a strike from outside the box in the 39th minute.
The Black & Gold pulled level in the 73rd minute when DeCarlo Guerra converted from the penalty spot. The tie lasted just four minutes, however, as Jordan Adebayo-Smith restored Minnesota’s lead in the 77th minute off an assist from Cruz.
LAFC2 pushed for another equalizer in the closing stages but could not find a third goal. LAFC2 finished with nine shots, including two on target. Ethan Scally made three saves in goal.
MNUFC2 held a 17-9 advantage in total attempts and earned seven corner kicks to LAFC2’s one.
LAFC2 will enter the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs as the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference. Under the league’s Pick-Your-Opponent format, the top three seeds will select their quarterfinal opponents from the No. 5 through No. 8 seeds, with the No. 4 seed hosting the remaining club.
