Changes are coming to the SuperDraft.

On Friday, MLS announced the date and format changes for the 2020 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas.

The 2020 SuperDraft will be conducted on Jan. 9 at 9 am PT and streamed live on Twitter by MLS and ESPN.

Much of the draft remains similar to previous years. There will be four rounds. Each round will have 26 players selected with the addition of Inter Miami CF and Nashville SC this season. Only the first two rounds will take place via the livestream on Jan. 9. Rounds 3 and 4 will take place on Jan. 13 and clubs now only have three minutes to make a selection instead of the four minutes from past drafts.

The biggest change to the format is the location of the draft. Unlike previous years, when teams and eligible players gathered at one location for the draft, the 2020 SuperDraft selections will be made remotely by clubs. During the first round, MLS will have cameras embedded with players and clubs to show real-time reactions and live-looks into the decision-making process. Additional content and analysis will be provided across MLS league and club digital and social channels.

The draft will also be streamed live on the ESPN App, YouTube, and Facebook.
