LAFC made history by announcing YouTube TV as the exclusive home of locally televised English-language LAFC games.
The LAFC-YouTube TV agreement was the first of its kind in North American professional sports. LAFC will be the first to stream local games live to Supporters directly. And the innovative nature of the agreement furthers the Club’s commitment to building a unique community in Los Angeles
As a result of this unique partnership, there’s bound to be questions. Here are the answers to help ensure Supporters never miss a minute of LAFC’s inaugural season:
What platform is YouTubeTV available on?
YouTube TV is available wherever you are, be that mobile, tablet, or computer. It is also available via Smart TVs, Xbox One, and popular streaming devices like Chromecast and Apple TV.
Do I have to pay for YouTubeTV?
Yes - for $40 a month you’ll not only have access to LAFC matches locally, you’ll also get the full line-up of over 50 networks and channels that YouTubeTV offers. Channels include the same live local feeds in Los Angeles from KABC 7, CBS 2, KTTV FOX 11 and KNBC 4 that are offered by a cable or satellite provider, in addition to networks like CNN, ESPN, AMC, FX, TNT, and FOX Sports. And unlike cable and satellite, there’s no contract required.
How many LAFC matches will YouTubeTV carry in 2018?
YouTubeTV will have all 18 of LAFC’s locally televised English-language matches, as well as carrying 12 of the team’s nationally televised games via ESPN, FOX, and FS1. 30 of LAFC’s 34 matches will be televised live by YouTubeTV.
Do I NEED YouTube TV to watch LAFC in 2018?
No, you don’t. LAFC will make their games available to all fans in Los Angeles. The Club will soon announce a comprehensive broadcast package featuring a local, over-the-air Spanish-language broadcast partner as well as partnerships with both English and Spanish-language radio stations prior to the start of the season. In addition, LAFC has a league-high 16 nationally-televised matches this season on ESPN, FOX, FS1 and Univision.
What channel will the games air on within the YouTube TV service?
Matches will be featured on a designated LAFC branded YouTubeTV channel, in addition to exclusive LAFC content. The dedicated LAFC channel will be the official, exclusive home to watch all English-language LAFC matches and content.
Will I also need cable to see LAFC matches?
No - YouTubeTV is a cable and satellite alternative. Not only will you be able to see all local LAFC matches, Supporters will be able to watch all nationally televised matches and have access to many of the same channels and networks provided by cable and satellite.
What parts of Southern California can subscribe to the matches?
LAFC locally televised matches will be available on YouTube TV to subscribers in the Los Angeles market, as well as Inyo, Kern, Kings, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Tulare, Ventura, and San Diego.
Will I be able to watch LAFC matches with a YouTube TV account outside of Los Angeles?
Nationally broadcast matches on ESPN, FOX and FS1 will be available on a YouTube TV account outside of Los Angeles. All locally televised LAFC matches are geo-fenced and available in the Los Angeles market as well as the areas listed in the question above. All other LAFC content, including pre and post-game shows will be available outside of these markets.
Is this the first streaming deal for an MLS Club?
Yes - this is the first partnership of its kind in North American pro sports where all locally televised matches are on a live TV streaming provider.
What other content is included in the deal?
Original LAFC programming and content will be featured on a the LAFC YouTube Channel. Match broadcasts will feature a 30-minute pre and post show.
