LAFC2 Announces Coaching Staff And Roster For Inaugural Season

LAFC2 today announced its roster and technical staff ahead of the start of the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro Season on Sunday, March 26. LAFC2 hosts North Texas SC in its inaugural game at Titan Stadium on the campus of Cal State Fullerton. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. PT and is available on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

The LAFC2 roster features 11 players signed to MLS NEXT Pro contracts, which includes Christopher Jaime, the LAFC Academy product who was the first player to sign an LAFC MLS NEXT Pro contract in September, 2022. The roster includes LAFC MLS 2023 SuperDraft selections Jassem Koleilat and Noah Dollenmayer, as well as LAFC Academy alumni Diego Rosales and Bryan Moyado. Rosales and Moyado joined the LAFC Academy in 2016 at the U-12 level as members of the Club’s first-ever Academy squad. In 2022, Moyado was named to the 2022 MLS Next West All-Star Game.

The LAFC2 roster on gamedays will also include players from the LAFC first team and may feature select LAFC Academy players. All international signings will be added to the roster pending receipt of their International Transfer Certificate and P1 Visa.

LAFC2 is led by head coach Enrique Duran, who was announced as LAFC2’s head coach on January 25. The rest of the technical staff features assistant head coach Stephen Campos and goalkeeper coach Omar Zeenni.

A native of Redlands, CA, Campos joins the Black & Gold after five seasons at the Las Vegas Lights FC where he served as an assistant coach and strength & conditioning coach. Campos worked under former Lights and now LAFC head coach Steve Cherundolo in 2021 and with Duran in 2022. Additionally, Campos holds a USSF B License, a Masters in exercise science from Concordia University and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

Zeeni first joined LAFC in 2021 as a goalkeeper coach for the Club’s former USL Affiliate, the Las Vegas Lights FC, working on Cherundolo and Duran’s coaching staff for two seasons. A native of Arcadia, CA, Zeeni brings over eight years of goalkeeper coaching experience beginning in 2016 from his own Pro GK Academy training and developing goalkeepers in Los Angeles. From 2018 – 2021 Zeenni served as the goalkeeper coach for Cal State LA’s Men’s Soccer team, where he helped lead the Golden Eagles to the NCAA Finals in 2019 and a National Championship in 2021.  National Finalist in 2019 and National Champions in 2021. Zeenni and the rest of Cal State LA staff were named the NCAA Division II West Region Staff of the Year in 2021.
