LAFC2 returns to action for its second match in five days when the team travels to Carson, CA, to face off against rival Ventura County FC on Friday, May 9, at Dignity Health Sports Park.
The Black & Gold currently sits eighth in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference standings, holding a 3W-2L-2D record and 12 points through seven matches.
This will be the second meeting between the two sides this season. LAFC2 claimed a 3-1 victory in the previous encounter nearly two months ago with goals from Alec Hughes, DeCarlo Guerra and an own goal by VCFC.
Matt Evans leads LAFC2 in scoring this season, tallying four goals and two assists. Guerra is close behind with three goals, including a brace in last weekend’s win over Colorado Rapids 2. Jude Terry also continues to make an impact for the Black & Gold as the young midfielder is tied for second in the league with four assists.
THE HOME SIDE
Led by head coach Matt Taylor, VCFC (5-3-0) sits in third place in the Western Conference with 15 points from eight matches. The club enters Friday’s contest after a 2-1 loss to Tacoma Defiance last Friday.
Former LAFC forward Luis MĂĽller has been a key figure for VCFC, leading the team with four goals and two assists.
