LAFC2 fell 2-0 to Austin FC II on Sunday night, June 7, at Parmer Field in Austin, Texas. After a scoreless first half, Austin broke through in the 63rd minute on a free kick from Ervin Torres, then doubled its lead two minutes later through Ibrahima Sall.
The Black & Gold created chances in the opening half and nearly found a breakthrough before the break. Tommy Mihalić was denied multiple times, while DeCarlo Guerra forced a save deep into first-half stoppage time as LAFC2 went into halftime level at 0-0.
Austin seized control just after the hour mark. Torres opened the scoring in the 63rd minute, and Sall added a second two minutes later to put the hosts in front 2-0. LAFC2 continued to push for a response through Lisandro Torres, Ernesto Rodriguez, and Sebastian Nava, but could not find a way back into the match.
Austin held a slight edge in shots, 12-11, and put four attempts on target to LAFC2’s two.
LAFC2 returns to action on Wednesday, June 24, when the club hosts MNUFC2 at USC’s Rawlinson Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m., and the match will be available on MLSNEXTPro.com.
