LAFC2 was defeated by San Jose Earthquakes II 4-1 at PayPal Park in San Jose on Sunday night in MLS NEXT Pro action. LAFC2 forward Ernesto Rodriquez opened the scoring, netting the Black & Gold’s lone goal in the 16th minute.
San Jose answered before halftime, leveling the match through Nick Fernandez in the 32nd minute before Julian Donnery added a second goal nine minutes later to send the home side into the break with a 2-1 lead. Noel Buck extended the lead in the 57th minute and Nonso Adimabua added a fourth just five minutes later to seal the result.
Despite the final scoreline, LAFC2 remained active in attack and finished level with San Jose in shots on goal, 5-5.
With the loss, LAFC2 is now 0W-1L-1D to open the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season. The Black & Gold returns on Sunday against Real Monarchs at America First Field in Sandy, UT.
