The Black & Gold had their chances. DeCarlo Guerra forced an early save in the 15th minute, Eddie Villeda tested the Timbers2 goalkeeper from distance in the 32nd, and LAFC2 pushed again after the break as Gavin Zambrano, Giuliano Whitchurch, and Guerra each found chances in the second half.
LAFC2 controlled the possession battle with 68 percent, and outshot Timbers2 13-10, but Portland put four attempts on target to LAFC2’s three and made its first-half lead stand.
Ethan Scally made three saves, including a late stop in stoppage time to keep LAFC2 within one.
