LAFC2 earned a hard-fought 3-2 win over Colorado Rapids 2 on Sunday night at Titan Stadium in Fullerton, California, in a tightly contested MLS NEXT Pro matchup.
DeCarlo Guerra opened the scoring for LAFC2 in the 44th minute, confidently converting from the penalty spot to give the home side a 1-0 advantage. Colorado responded in first-half stoppage time when Malik Pinto capitalized on a chance to bring the visitors level just before the break.
Shortly after the restart, Tommy Mihalić registered his first MLS NEXT Pro goal in the 54th minute, finishing clinically to restore the lead for LAFC2. Rapids 2 answered once more in the 63rd minute with Alex Harris finding the back of the net from the penalty spot for his second goal of the season to make it 2-2.
The decisive moment came in the 79th minute when LAFC2 was awarded a second penalty following a Colorado handball inside the area. Guerra stepped up once again, calmly converting the spot kick to complete his brace and secure the victory for the Black & Gold.
LAFC2 improves to 3W-2L-2D (12pts) and next takes on rival Ventura County FC at Dignity Health Sports Park on Friday, May 9. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT.
