The first team is still a few weeks away from playing meaningful matches. But this weekend, the LAFC Academy is one step closer to reaching the final stage of the 2019 Generation adidas Cup.
Sitting atop Group A, the LAFC U15s are in the driver's seat heading into the final weekend of play in the inaugural U15 Generation adidas Cup qualifying. The U15s are one of 21 teams vying for the chance to take part in the Generation adidas Cup finals held at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
Through qualifying, the Academy is a perfect three wins out of three and sits three points clear of second place. Furthermore, LAFC is the only team in the U15 competition yet to concede a single goal in qualifying.
The Academy kicks off the weekend against the Portland Timbers Academy on Friday at 11:30am. They'll take on Seattle on Saturday at 2pm, before finishing the round against Vancouver on Monday at 11:00am. All matches will be held on Field 5 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif.
