Miller, Ramirez, Zimmerman Called In To 2019 USMNT January Camp

Miller, Ramirez, Zimmerman Called In By USMNT

Gregg Berhalter has called in his first group of players to the U.S. Men's National Team. LAFC, along with Toronto FC and Columbus Crew SC, lead the way with three players each called into the national team.

On Tuesday, U.S. Soccer announced the 27 players called in to the annual USMNT January camp. Tyler Miller, Christian Ramirez, and Walker Zimmerman were called in to the camp starting Jan, 6 in Chula Vista. Calif.

“In putting together this domestic-based roster, we started with a number of players who we think can be a core part of the group moving forward. We then looked at players that excelled this year in Major League Soccer, and finally chose players that can play a specific role in our game model,” Berhalter said. “We are very excited to start to implement our ideas about the style of play and the culture we want to develop in the National Team.”

Ramirez and Zimmerman were called into the 2018 January Camp by then USMNT head coach Dave Sarachan. Zimmerman earned his first USMNT cap after participating in his first January camp in 2017.

For Miller, this is his first call-up to the senior USMNT, the goalkeeper represented the U.S. at the U23 level previously. Miller and Ramirez are both seeking their first USMNT cap.

The January camp in Chula Vista begins on Jan. 6, culminating in a friendlies against Panama on Jan. 27 in Glendale, Ariz. and Costa Rica on Feb. 2 in San Jose, Calif.
