The Western Conference's top spot is going down to the wire.
LAFC travel to take on Sporting KC on Sunday as part of MLS Decision Day 2018 presented by AT&T. The match featuring the two top sides in the West will air live across the nation on FS1 and FOX Deportes.
The top of the table clash is one of 11 matches kicking off simultaneously on Sunday. Sitting two points adrift of Western Conference leaders SKC, LAFC knows a win would secure a first-round bye to start the playoffs and likely result in the capture of the Western Conference, a feat no expansion team has achieved in its inaugural season:
Los Angeles FC will clinch top seed in the Western Conference IF
- Los Angeles FC win vs. Sporting Kansas City AND
- FC Dallas win vs. Colorado Rapids with less than 16 goals scored than LAFC scores
OR
- Los Angeles FC win vs. Sporting Kansas City AND
- FC Dallas lose or tie vs. Colorado Rapids
Los Angeles FC will clinch a first-round bye in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs IF
- Los Angeles FC win vs. Sporting Kansas City AND
OR
- Los Angeles FC tie vs. Sporting Kansas City AND
- FC Dallas lose or tie vs. Colorado Rapids AND
- Seattle Sounders FC lose or tie vs. San Jose Earthquakes

- FC Dallas lose vs. Colorado Rapids AND

- Portland Timbers lose or tie vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC AND
- FC Dallas does not score more than 15 goals than LAFC
