LAFC was defeated 1-0 by San Diego FC on Saturday night at BMO Stadium. The result ended LAFC's eight-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, and dropped the club to third place in the Western Conference, with 34 points, while San Diego stands in 12th place (24 points).
Through 87 minutes, LAFC had limited San Diego to one shot on target on the night, an easily saved roller from distance in the 47th minute. But in the 88th minute, LAFC defender Ryan Porteous committed a handball offense near goal on a San Diego corner kick, awarding a penalty kick to Anders Dreyer, who converted to give San Diego the decisive 1-0 margin. Dreyer was later sent off in injury time after being shown his second yellow card.
LAFC returns to action on Wednesday, August 19, when it faces the Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in suburban Denver. The match is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast on Apple TV, with local radio coverage on 710 AM ESPN, the ESPN LA app, KYPA 1230 AM (Korean), and 980 AM La Mera Mera (Spanish)
