LAFC collected its fourth straight MLS regular-season win and its third straight since the FIFA World Cup break, defeating Sporting Kansas City 4-0 at BMO Stadium on Saturday night. First-half goals from each member of the Black & Gold's starting front line - Son Heung-Min (5'), Denis Bouanga (37'), and David MartÃnez (45'+4) - put LAFC in full command of the match by the intermission. Bouanga added his second of the night in the 85th minute to complete the scoring.
Hugo Lloris registered his MLS-best tenth clean sheet of the season.
With the win, LAFC is now 10W-5L-3D on the season for 33 points, placing the club in a tie atop the Western Conference with its next opponent, Vancouver Whitecaps FC.Â
LAFC returns to action next Saturday, August 1, when it travels to Vancouver to face the Whitecaps, the club that eliminated LAFC from last year's MLS Cup Playoffs and which has held the top spot in the West for most of this season. Kickoff for that match is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. PT. All MLS matches are broadcast on Apple TV, with local radio coverage available on 710 AM ESPN, the ESPN LA app, KYPA 1230 AM [Korean], and 980 AM La Mera Mera [Spanish].
