LAFC Academy Hosts Preseason Friendlies at UCLA

UCLA Academy Friendlies

The Los Angeles Football Club Youth Academy will host preseason friendlies on Saturday, Aug. 26 and Sunday, Aug. 27 on the campus of UCLA at the Intramural Fields across from UCLA’s historic Pauley Pavilion.

The event features the U.S. Soccer Development Academy teams from LAFC (MLS), San Jose Earthquakes (MLS), Pateadores, Galaxy-San Diego, Chula Vista Futbol Club and international Academy Tijuana Xolos (Liga MX) in three different age groups: U-12, U-13 and U-14.

“In the Academy’s first year, our priority was to construct a local event for our community to compete in and provide the chance for local players to be identified by our scouts,” said LAFC Academy Director Todd Saldana. “As we begin our second Development Academy campaign, we take another important step in raising the standard and providing valuable experience for our players and staff as we introduce them to the next and highest level of competition.”

The LAFC Youth Academy is entering its second official U.S. Soccer Development Academy season, with teams in the U-12, U-13 and U-14 age groups. This weekend’s friendlies are the final preseason matches before the teams begin official USSDA league play on Sept. 2.

Admission to the event is free and parking in UCLA’s Lot 7 is encouraged. Lot 7 is a paid lot.
