This August, LAFC proudly celebrated community, education, and inclusivity through a series of impactful events. From supporting local youth at the Bresee Foundation Backpack Drive to hosting inspiring career panels and Special Olympics Unified Team experiences, we saw the power of sport in bringing people together. Thank you to our partners, volunteers, and supporters who helped make these moments possible.
Bresee Backpack Drive
We were honored to support the Bresee Foundation’s annual Backpack Drive, which provided local youth with essential school supplies for the upcoming year. With the help of LAFC staff volunteers, donated items were sorted and packed into backpacks for distribution. Students and families expressed immense gratitude, and Pacsun generously offered a shopping spree to ensure each student had new clothing. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to making this event a success!
Bresee’s LAFC Youth Leadership Program Career Panel
We were thrilled to welcome the 2025 Bresee LAFC Youth Leadership Program (YLP) to our home match on August 5th. Directly before the game, we hosted an inspiring career panel featuring a diverse group of LAFC professionals who each shared their career journeys and offered advice on navigating the sports industry. The YLP group then enjoyed a great home match. The evening was filled with fun and words of wisdom and encouragement.
Unified Team Trip to Chicago
To wrap up the 2025 LAFC Special Olympics Unified season, the team traveled to Chicago to take on the Chicago Fire. Thanks to our partners at BMO, we also attended Chicago White Sox game before competing in the Unified match. The weekend concluded with both teams coming together at SeatGeek Stadium to watch Son Heung-Min’s LAFC debut, and enjoy on-field recognition, a team dinner, and a pin swap to celebrate the experience.
Metro by T-Mobile Drew League Jersey Swap
In partnership with Metro by T-Mobile, LAFC players Denis Bouanga, Timothy Tillman, Tommy Mihalic, and Josh Santiago visited the 2025 Drew League Men’s Championship game. The group swapped jerseys with Los Angeles Lakers rookie Adou Thiero, Drew League MVP and NBA alum Jordan Hamilton, and WNBA All-Star Betnijah Laney-Hamilton. As part of Metro by T-Mobile's commitment to the community, a group of summer clinic series participants and local LAUSD students had the opportunity to enjoy the day alongside LAFC.
STEM Goals Program Launch
LAFC launched our MLS STEM Goals Program, alongside Ticketmaster and Learn Fresh - a nonprofit that empowers students and educators through innovative STEM learning experiences built around sports and entertainment. In honor of the launch, Learn Fresh hosted an Educator training at BMO Stadium to equip educators with the information needed to implement the program in their learning spaces.
MLS STEM Goals is a program that integrates customizable, grade-aligned STEM content, along with real MLS team statistics, into a soccer-themed board game and community program for students. From now through October, educators and students will participate in an in-class “season,” where they will work in pairs to build collaboration and problem-solving skills. Through a board game built around grade-specific STEM concepts, students will compete while reinforcing key lessons in math, science, and technology.
The program will conclude in October with a tournament at BMO Stadium, where students and educators will come together for a day of competition, learning, and celebration.
LAFC Unified Team Angel City Match
The LAFC Unified Team enjoyed an exciting field trip to the Angel City FC match against the Orlando Pride. The outing helped the Unified Team bond while cheering on Angel City at our very own BMO Stadium.

Community Spotlight: Project Angel Food
Founded in 1989, Project Angel Food nourishes the health and spirit of individuals facing critical illness by preparing and delivering medically tailored meals with love, care, and dignity. Each year, the organization provides more than 1.5 million meals to over 7,157 seriously ill clients across Los Angeles County, nearly half of whom are Hispanic. To date, Project Angel Food has served 20 million meals. The organization is accredited by the Food is Medicine Coalition and consistently earns a Four-Star Charity Navigator rating, with 89 cents of every donated dollar directly supporting meal programs. We’re Mad About Belinda! Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and Go-Go’s lead singer Belinda Carlisle will light up the 2025 Angel Awards Gala with her No. 1 hits and new music from Once Upon a Time in California. On Saturday, September 27, 2025, guests will dine under the stars on Paramount’s famed lot as Project Angel Food honors Academy Award–nominated actress Jennifer Tilly with the Angel Award and Cedars-Sinai with the Leadership in Love Angel Award.
