LAFC will face defending Concacaf Champions Cup winners Cruz Azul at BMO Stadium on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, in the first leg of their two-game Quarterfinal matchup in the region's most prestigious club competition. Tickets are available here, and below.
LAFC will travel to Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla, Mexico, for the second leg on Tuesday , April 14, with the winner on aggregate goals advancing to the CCC Semifinals.
Notes on LAFC vs. Cruz Azul:
- LAFC has advanced to the CCC Quarterfinals for the fourth time in its four appearances in the competition (2020, 2023, 2025, 2026). LAFC advanced to the CCC Final in 2020 and 2023.
- The Black & Gold defeated Real España (7-1 aggregate) in Round One and Alajuelense (3-2 agg.) in the Round of 16 to reach this Quarterfinal. Cruz Azul advanced past Vancouver FC (8-0 agg.) and CF Monterrey (4-3 agg.).
- Cruz Azul is the reigning CCC champion, defeating Vancouver Whitecaps in the 2025 Final.
- No club has won more CCC/CCL trophies than Cruz Azul’s 7 (T-Club América).
- Former LAFC defender and 2024 U.S. Open Cup hero Omar Campos plays for Cruz Azul and starred in their Round-of-16 defeat of Monterrey, logging two assists in 178 mins.
- The only previous meeting between LAFC and Cruz Azul was the Concacaf Quarterfinals on Dec. 16, 2020. Due to COVID, ten months passed between that year's Round of 16 and the Quarterfinals; the LAFC-vs.-Cruz Azul tie was reduced to a single leg instead of two legs.
- In an empty Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Carlos Vela scored LAFC’s opening goal on a penalty kick (38’). Later, 19-year-old Kwadwo “Mahala” Opoku (currently with CF Montrèal) scored for LAFC on a volley (71’) to break a 1-1 tie and send the Black & Gold to the Semifinals.
