LAFC will have to travel in its pursuit of the U.S. Open Cup. The Houston Dynamo are set to host LAFC in the semifinal match held on August 8.
In its inaugural run in the knockout tournament, LAFC had hosted all three its prior Open Cup matches, defeating Fresno FC, Sacramento Republic FC, and the Portland Timbers. A draw held Monday at U.S. Soccer headquarters confirmed Houston as the home side for the semifinal.
On the other side of the bracket, the Philadelphia Union will host the Chicago Fire, also on August 8.
In addition to the confirming the semifinal hosts, a draw was held for priority hosting of the Open Cup final tentatively to be held on September 26. The Chicago Fire drew the top spot in hosting order, with LAFC being selected third. The priority order's results mean LAFC could host the final with a defeat of Houston and the Fire's loss to Philadelphia.
