NAACP LOS ANGELES

The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of all citizens. With aggressive action at the local level, the NAACP LA works to inform and educate the public of the adverse effects of racial discrimination and to seek its elimination. They also aim to eliminate mass incarceration and racial disparities in the prison system, as well as tackle issues of integration, overcrowding and low achievement among black and minority students in the Los Angeles Unified school district.

NCBW LOS ANGELES

The mission of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women is to advocate on behalf of Black women and girls to promote leadership development and gender equity in the areas of health, education, and economic empowerment. As one of more than 60 chapters across the country and celebrating more than 35 years of advocacy in the Los Angeles community, the NCBW consists of a diverse generational group of Black African American women who are committed to being a united voice for more than 20 million Black women in the United States.

WOMEN IN SPORTS & EVENTS – LOS ANGELES

Founded in 2005, WISE Los Angeles carries out the WISE mission of advancing women in the business of sport. By facilitating relationships with industry professionals and offering valuable networking opportunities, WISE LA aims to generate exceptional women leaders who will not only see and own their personal and collective value, but also excel and create new bars of success in the business of sport and beyond.

LA CONSERVATION CORPS

The mission of LA Conservation Corps is to provide at-risk youth and young adults with opportunities for success through environmentally focused education and work experience. Founded in 1985, their work crews, consisting of over 600 individuals between the ages of 14-24, target everything from litter and graffiti abatement to tree planting and building affordable housing.

APIs Mobilize strives to empower young Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islander Americans to step into civic roles at all levels. By providing mentorship, networking opportunities, and education, APIs Mobilize aims to provide the next generation with the knowledge and skills required to become effective leaders in the community.

SHOES THAT FIT

Shoes That Fit aims to tackle one of the most visible signs of poverty in America by giving children in need new athletic shoes. It is their mission to ensure children can attend school with dignity and joy, prepared to learn, play, and thrive. Since their founding in 1992, Shoes That Fit have provided over 2 million pairs of brand-new shoes to children across the nation, with a strong presence in the Los Angeles community.

Through various programs, they create the access needed in nutrition, education, entrepreneurship, mental health, and more, further bridging the gap to ensure racial equality and social justice. COLOR THE WATER

Color The Water is a nonprofit community for BIPOC founded with the mission to reclaim space in the ocean through joyful, defiant, anti-racist surf lessons, celebrations, education, and media. Created as a way to fight racism in response to the murder of George Floyd, today, Color the Water is a diverse, inclusive, and safe space for hundreds of BIPOC surfers in Los Angeles.
