LAFC announced today a new partnership with CalHOPE, responding to the need to bring greater awareness about and make resources available that promote mental health and wellness.

The “goal” of CalHOPE, a statewide mental health and wellness campaign sponsored by the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), is to build community resiliency and help people recover from disasters and public health emergencies through free outreach, crisis counseling, and support services. Services include: individual and group crisis counseling and support, individual and public education, community networking and support, connection to resources, media, and public service announcements.

“LAFC is very closely aligned with CalHOPE in our shared mission of being a ‘Force for Good’ in our collective communities,” said LAFC Co-President and CBO Larry Freedman. “We are pleased to be able to serve our community by offering vital support and resources during trying times, and we hope that individuals and families feel supported and inspired to take advantage of CalHOPE’s impactful services.”

“CalHOPE is honored to partner with LAFC to raise awareness in Southern California of vital mental health and wellness resources. We look forward to helping deliver these resources and messages of hope to those in need,” said Autumn Boylan, Deputy Director of DHCS’ Office of Strategic Partnerships. “CalHOPE and LAFC together can help fans navigate the mental well-being challenges they face by reducing stigma and making it ok to ask for help when you need it.”

As part of the LAFC and CalHOPE partnership, fans will see and experience CalHOPE’s messages and have the opportunity to engage in available CalHOPE resources throughout the LAFC season, including match days and within unique content on LAFC channels. In the community, fans can expect to see CalHOPE and LAFC engaged at LAFC Academy events, LAFC SoCal Youth events, and participation in a mental health seminar with thought leaders to allow our communities to witness firsthand where hope lives, with CalHOPE.

CalHOPE may be accessed by calling the program’s warm line at (833) 317-HOPE (4673) or by visiting www.calhope.org.
