The Black & Gold's new look is built on LA history.

Some cities have a single architectural identity. Los Angeles has many.

One style in particular took root in the 1920s, and came to define the city’s design aesthetic. On buildings bathed in sunlight, Art Deco conveyed endless possibility — a canvas on which dreams could be realized. This architectural ideal, Art Deco, informed the construction of the Grand Lobby at BMO Stadium in 2016, and now, 100 years after it arrived in LA, it has inspired the design of the 2026-2027 LAFC Primary Kit.

This year, as the FIFA World Cup comes to Los Angeles, the 2026-2027 LAFC Primary Kit invites locals and internationals alike to feel at home in Black & Gold, by sharing our club’s culture and our city’s architectural DNA.

The jersey’s details (see below) include the words "Los Angeles" woven into the back neck; an overhead view of BMO Stadium depicted on the jock tag (lower hem); and LAFC’s traditional “Shoulder to Shoulder” message embroidered inside the collar.

The adidas logo and LAFC crest feature a first-ever lenticular (lens-shaped), holographic execution, with the LAFC crest bearing stars. (Representing two of the three host countries for the FIFA World Cup 2026, U.S.-based clubs in Major League Soccer will feature stars within their crests, while the crests of MLS’s three Canadian clubs will include maple leaves.)

WHAT THE PLAYERS SAY

Son Heung-Min: “All the lines, and the black and gold, makes it special. We are looking forward to playing in this amazing shirt and I hope these shirts bring success to the club.”

Timothy Tillman: “I use the word innovative.  The way it represents both of our colors, it’s very black and gold, and both colors are primary within the design.  I like it.  It's something new and I'm excited to play in it.”

Ryan Porteous: “Really cool. It’s something different.”

FABRIC OF THE CITY

Art Deco found its home in LA when movie studios were becoming the cornerstone of the city’s economy and its culture. The automobile came to LA at around the same time, conquering the city and becoming a requirement to live and move within it. Dozens of the Art Deco buildings that were erected as those first cars rumbled toward Hollywood are still standing, 100 years later:

Los Angeles Central Library. Los Angeles City Hall. Union Station.

Timeless yet specific. Classic yet forward-thinking. Their lines live on in the 2026-2027 LAFC Primary Kit.
